As part of the 95th anniversary of our university, an online event titled "Publishing in International Q1 Journals" was organized with the contributions of our Dean's Office. In the conference, the Editor of the European Journal of Teacher Education, one of the teacher education journals scanned in the 1st Quarter, Prof. Dr. Maria Assunção FLORES provided information on publishing in international journals scanned in the first quarter (Q1), especially in the field of teacher education.
The session moderator of the conference was Foreign Language Education Department, English Language Education Department Lecturer and Rector's Social Affairs Institution Assistant Coordinator Assoc. Dr. Müzeyyen Nazlı GÜNGÖR. To the conference held online; Our Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bekir BULUC, Dean of Gazi Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Mahmut SELVİ, Deputy Dean Assoc. Dr. Serkan KOŞAR, academicians from various universities in Turkey, graduate students, teacher educators and researchers participated.
Making the opening speech of the program, our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Bekir BULUC emphasized the significance of publishing in international journals scanned in the first quarter (Q1); he pointed out that it is important both in terms of individual academic contribution, maintaining the quality of Gazi University as a Research University and brand value in the global scientific community.
Our Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bekir BULUC, at the end of his speech, expressed his thanks especially for Prof. Dr. Maria Assunção FLORES and everyone who contributed to the organization of the event, especially Dean of Gazi Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Mahmut SELVİ.
Stating that they receive more than 500 applications per year to the European Journal of Teacher Education, Prof. Dr. FLORES stated the features that should be in the studies in general as follows:
Writing the work in English rather than translation,
Before applying, a good understanding of the aims, target audience and characteristics of the journals,
Good knowledge of the editorial board,
The main idea of the study being carefully discussed and associated with similar studies, especially in the target journal,
A clear demonstration of why the work is important in the international arena and how it will contribute to the international arena.
In the second half of the presentation, the question-and-answer part started. In this part, Prof. Dr. Assunção FLORES gave explanatory answers to the questions and made suggestions to the researchers. She concluded her presentation by emphasizing that future work should focus on how teacher education has changed before and after the COVID-19 era, learning to teach, and how teacher educators' teaching methods and techniques are shaping up to be in the new normal.
